Obituary
Jason C. Lyman passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2022. Jason was born on June 4, 1981, in Aurora, Colorado. He was the youngest of two children born to Marc and Tonia Lyman. Jason is a Colorado native. He lived his whole life in Aurora, where he had many friends who loved and deeply respected him.
Jason loved nature and all things outdoors. Camping, hiking, fishing, rappelling, snowboarding, swimming, and boating were some of his favorites. He was extremely active in the Boy Scout program throughout his youth. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow and achieved his Brotherhood. He was also very proud to have earned his Eagle Scout rank from Troop 12 at age 15. He has always taken his Boy Scout promise to help others very seriously. That mindset became a part of who he was. It continued to be a priority and a passion throughout his life.
In high school, Jason enjoyed running track and cross country. He graduated from Eaglecrest High School in 1999. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and completed specialized training in the computer/IT field.
Jason excelled in his professional career with Jeppesen/Boeing as an Aviation IT Manager. In the over 15 years that he worked there, he was promoted several times and received many awards for his outstanding performance and unique ideas. He loved working in the aviation industry.
In his free time, Jason very much enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. Some of the things he enjoyed doing most with them were going to movies and concerts; playing board, card and video games; putting together puzzles; traveling; going boating and swimming; and going to theme parks.
He loved everything about sports cars-driving them; reading about them; and working on and refurbishing them. He was also fond of building and racing small remote-control cars and drones.
Jason had a deep love, passion and appreciation for music. He was always humming or singing a tune, or drumming to the beat. He truly felt music in his soul.
Jason was an animal lover and had an especially soft spot in his heart for dogs. He dearly loved his family's two dogs, Daiki and Buster. He frequently played games with them, like tug-of-war and fetch. He taught them tricks, enjoyed taking them to the dog park and going on long walks with them.
Jason met his wife, Karena, at the age of 15. They dated all throughout high school and were married on July 14, 2001. Jason and Karena have three beautiful children: Amberly, Tristan and Cameron. Jason adored Karena and their children. He always made sure that Karena and the kids, as well as everyone around him, knew that. They were his everything. Jason and Karena made their home in the childhood house that he grew up in. They loved spending time together in many ways-going out on date nights; watching movies/shows; going to themed/costume dances; playing games; going to escape rooms; and traveling together. Jason and Karena enjoyed staying active and worked out often together-at the gym, going on walks together and playing highly active exercise VR games. They learned Taekwondo together, and spent over two years preparing for their Black Belts which they earned on the same day! They have been inseparable since they met and were very happily married for 21 years.
Jason was a wonderful son, a dedicated husband and father, and an amazing friend. He was kind, caring, loving and social. He was adventurous, charismatic, thoughtful and compassionate. Additionally, Jason was spontaneous, intuitive, energetic and fun-loving. He never met a stranger who didn't immediately feel like a friend. He exuded happiness and had a special ability to make anyone he talked to feel accepted and important. Jason also had a great sense of humor. He frequently had those around him laughing with his witty comments; fun or silly stories; dad jokes; and funny movie references and impressions. His friends always said his laughter and radiant smile were contagious.
Jason was genuine and sincere. He loved to give meaningful compliments and to help others feel good about themselves. He believed that a smile could change somebody's whole day and often performed random acts of kindness. He was truly a beacon of warmth and light, as well as an inspiration to those who knew him.
Jason had a great passion for life. He always made sure to live life to the fullest, and encouraged others to do the same. He will be missed immensely, but loved forever.
Jason is survived by his wife, Karena, and their children Amberly, Tristan and Cameron; parents Marc and Tonia Lyman; and his sister, Dannette (Chad) Daedlow and their children Samantha and Caden.
Jason is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Don and Connie Lyman, and his maternal grandparents Billie and Gladys Regan.
Services to honor Jason's life will be held at the LDS church on 3101 S. Flanders St., Aurora, Colorado, on August 20th at 10:30am.
