Jason Michael Lyons, aka "Homer" to his many friends, age 45, of Wellesley, MA passed away on December 31, 2024 from complications from pneumonia and stage 4 lung cancer. He left this earth surrounded by his family at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA.
He was born on March 5,1979 at Newton Wellesley Hospital and was a long-time resident of Wellesley, MA. He attended Wellesley High School and Keefe Regional Technical High School for carpentry. He was diagnosed at age 14 with Type One diabetes, which contributed to all of his many health issues and hospital stays.
Jason had the most quirky and friendly personality and always made his presence known. He loved the outdoors, especially riding bikes, swimming, playing basketball and fishing. He loved all sports, especially the Celtics and you'd always see him rocking Celtics gear. He had a deep love of music and would jam out and blare his speakers.
Jason was an animal lover and had many pets over the years but he had a special spot for his BoJack Sophie, who he leaves behind. He loved his family and friends tremendously but his kids and parents were his main reason for living. He tried so hard to make sure all of our family got together especially for the holidays. He loved spending time with his children whether it was giving them piggy back rides, riding go karts, going out to eat, cheering them on from the crowd or giving them advice over the phone he was there. He was the most generous, giving, caring, funny and loyal person who went above and beyond for all who knew him even if he was struggling himself or in pain. He was a good father, son, brother, uncle and friend and will be truly missed by many. "Alrighty then" Jay, let's hope you learn to cast the line in the water and not in your head. We will always carry your memory safe inside our hearts forever.
Jason leaves behind his four amazing children, Brooke and Kenadee Soares of Fall River, MA and Evallyn and Kathryn Thomas of Fall River, MA, his parents Michael Lyons of Newton, MA and Patricia (Watson) Lyons Campbell and Donald Campbell of Wellesley, his siblings, Jennifer Lyons of Ludlow, MA and John Lyons of Holden, MA and cousin Michelle (Lyons) Hughes of Marshfield, MA. He also leaves behind 8 nieces and nephews, 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Barbara (Lagarde) Lyons of Brockton, MA.
Visiting Hours will be Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 4-7pm at The Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St., Wellesley Hills (www.burkefamilyfuneralhomes.com) with a Memorial Service at 6PM.
