JEAN S. SMITH
Jean S. Smith, 95 years of age, transitioned peacefully from this earthly life on Saturday, August 30, 2025 with her daughter by her side. Born and raised in Norwalk, CT where she remained until 2018 and moved to live with her children in Southern Georgia and Northern Florida.
Jean was the youngest daughter of the late Fannie E. and Arthur
Boyer.
She attended Norwalk Public Schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1947. She was the popular teller at City Trust Bank at 50 Washington Street for many years and retired from the Finance Dept. of Hatch & Bailey Co.
She attended Bethel AME Church, Norwalk and loved singing with the James Perkins Senior Choir. She was on a bowling league for several years at Rip Van Winkle Bowling Alley. Taking the bus to the casino with her neighbors was something she enjoyed, as well as going to the "Big E" every year with her sisters. Her favorite pastimes were reading books, doing crossword puzzles and playing the solitaire card game for hours. She enjoyed traveling to see her family members wherever they were.
Jean was preceded in death by her oldest son, Gary Smith and her sisters, Hortense Whitney, Marguerite Fuller, Adrienne Landrum and Virginia Stradford. Survivors are her children, Brad Smith (Irene), Kingsland, GA, Keith Smith, Moosup, CT and Cherlynn "Missy "Fields (Raymond), Jacksonville, FL; her 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
