Jeannette Marguerite Hernandez

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannette Marguerite (Caliman) Hernandez, age 73, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 31, 2025. Jeannette was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Pedro and Ida Marguerite (Lane) Caliman on October 9th, 1951
.
Jeannette grew up in Venezuela and attended international schools in Judibana, Maracaibo and Caracas. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1969. Jeannette attended the University of Americas in Mexico City and Puebla. She married Arturo Hernandez in 1975 in Oklahoma City. They had 4 children together. Jeannette worked for the state of Oklahoma most of her adult life, at the Oklahoma State Insurance Fund and Oklahoma Tax Commission. She also worked later for Integris Health Southwest Medical Center. Jeannette used her fluency in Spanish at every job. After retirement, she enjoyed tending to all the neighborhood cats and eventually adopting her beloved cat, Meow Meow, a runt of a feral litter.
Jeannette is preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Hernandez, her mother, Ida Caliman, father, Pedro Caliman, stepfather, Elmer Wombacher, uncle, Stephens Phillips and sister-in-law Kathy Caliman.
Jeannette is survived by her four children; Arturo Hernandez, Sandra Hernandez, Franscico 'Frank' Hernandez, and Michelle Mohler (Robert Mohler), grandchildren; Tristan Hernandez, and London Hernandez, her sister; Marilyn Caliman (Charles Sizemore), brothers; Pedro 'Pete' Caliman, and Michael Caliman, half-brothers; Pedro Miguel Caliman and Juan Carlos Caliman, half-sister; Alicia Caliman, her aunt; Mary Ellen Phillips, cousin; Sheila Amundsen (Cary Amundsen), and her cousin's daughter, Cassidy Edwards (Paul Edwards), and her Caliman nieces and nephews; Amanda, Michael, Derek, Cassandra and Karil. Her sister-in-law, Socorro Gonzalez and family, including many more nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Friday, June 6, 2025 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, OK. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, 11:30 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel in Bethany. Pastor Randy Barnett of Riverside Church in Edmond will be officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
