Jeffrey L. Elek

Jeffrey L. Elek, 73, of East Windsor, beloved husband of Patricia A. (Adleman) Elek, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on January 22, 1950, he was the son of the late Louis and Edith (Miljes) Elek. Jeff was raised in Fords, NJ, attended local schools and was a 1968 graduate of JFK Memorial High School. He attended Rider College and Middlesex Community College. Very early on in his teenage years Jeff knew that he wanted to work on cars. He began his career as a mechanic at Jay's Automotive in Fords, NJ during high school. He then taught auto repair at Lincoln Technical Institute. Jeff went on to become co-owner of a repair shop and gas station, J&J Automotive in Matawan, NJ. He was a highly regarded and sought after ASE certified master mechanic. Jeff's career culminated with the owning and operating of his own repair shop and gas station, Woodbridge Gulf in Woodbridge, NJ. He was also a Snap-On tools dealer.
Jeff was an avid NASCAR fan and he loved listening to and sharing his extensive knowledge of Rock & Roll oldies and Motown. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a deep Christian faith, a strong work ethic and was a man of his word. Jeff's greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with his wife, daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren. Jeff is survived by his wife of 51 years and high school sweetheart, Patricia A. Elek of East Windsor, his daughters, Allison J. Recla and her husband Adam of Tallahassee, FL and Melissa L. Elek of East Windsor, his grandchildren, Ryan C. Recla, Elizabeth R. Recla and Annabelle G. Recla, his brother, Bernard Christensen and his wife Heather of Australia, his sister, Leta Jacobson and her husband George of Lititz, PA, and many nieces and nephews. Jeff was predeceased by his beloved infant daughter, Kari Beth Elek and his parents.
Jeff's family will receive friends on Sunday May 7, 2023 from 2-5PM at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Carmon's beginning at 11AM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
