Jeffrey Donald Harvey, 67, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024. Jeff was born September 9, 1957, in Kansas City, MO.
Jeff was a lifelong resident of Independence, MO and graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1976. Jeff served honorably in the Army National Guard in the late 70's. He worked for the Fort Osage School District as a janitor for over 30 years. Jeff had a passion for reading and history. He had a vast knowledge of world and U.S. history. Jeff could recall dates in history and events exactly to the date.
Jeff was fond of the Jewish Center of KC and Jewish culture and traditions. Other hobbies and interests included flying, music collecting, books, and television. In the 70's, Jeff was very involved in POW/MIA families, to find missing service men in the Vietnam war era.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Frederick Harvey and Loretta Harvey Stewart, and two sisters, Cynthia Harvey and Teresa Harvey.
Jeff is survived by three brothers, Steven Harvey and wife, Marilyn of Independence, MO; Greg Harvey and wife, Kim of Oak Grove, MO; and Glenn Stewart of Independence, MO and one sister, Loretta Leigh and husband, Michael of Louisville, KY; and 6 nephews and 1 niece.
Jeff was a lifelong Catholic and will be missed by many friends and family. A graveside service will be held at Royer's New Salem Funeral Home (1823 Blue Mills Road, Independence, MO 64058) at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Attendees are asked to gather at the Royer's New Salem Funeral Home and the gravesite is located just behind the Funeral Home.
