Jerry Harold Goehring

Jerry Harold Goehring, 77, of Anderson, passed away on August 27, 2025, at Community Hospital Anderson following an extended illness. He was born on September 23, 1947, in Anderson, the son of Dutch and Verda A. (York) Goehring. Jerry graduated from Anderson High School in 1965 and went on to attend Franklin College. He later earned his Master's Degree from Ball State University. On October 24, 1969, he married the love of his life, Meredith (Davis) Goehring, in Anderson, and she survives. Jerry devoted 34 years of his life as an elementary school teacher with Anderson Community Schools before retiring. He was also a proud member of the American Federation of Teachers. Teaching was not just his career, but his calling-he had a gift for working with children and touched countless lives throughout the community. Jerry was deeply thankful for his time on earth and truly enjoyed life. He had a beautiful heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a generous spirit. He loved animals, opposed cruelty of any kind, and was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Meredith; his children, Jonathan (Jennifer) Goehring and Adriane (Jon) Kabrud; and his grandchildren, Jack and Ella Goehring, and Dutch and Huxley Kabrud. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has been chosen, with a private family gathering to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protection League.
