JERRY DAVID GOSS, 81, passed away suddenly at Piedmont Health Care Center on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The Piedmont Native was one of five children born to David Lewis and Pluma Buttram Goss. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Peggy Cash, Shirley Davis, and Steve Goss; and recently his wife of 45 years, Debra Kay Newsome Goss.
He was employed with Goodyear in Gadsden building tires and later became the OSHA Supervisor there. A very kind natured man with a dry sense of humor, he was a great story teller, and was loved by all who knew him. He was an avid lover of Alabama football, Piedmont football, and golf. Many years he took great pride and care of the lawn at the Piedmont High School field.
He is survived by his children: Tammie (Gregg) Howard; Brian (Tonya) Goss; and Andrew (Gina) Wheeler; grandchildren: Mitchell (Erica) Howard, Kayla Howard, Austin Goss, Davis Wheeler and Derrick DelBuono; great grandchildren: Maddie and Caden; sister: Deborah Parris; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 1:00 PM from Dansby Heritage Chapel with Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Garden with Mitchell Howard, Austin Goss, Jeff Cash, Jeremey Coffey, David Coffey and Michael Barrett serving as pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials to Piedmont Rescue Squad will be appreciated.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Piedmont Rescue Squad for their care on the many times they assisted him.
