On the morning of June 17, 2025, Jerry Lynn Pyron crossed into eternity to be in the presence of the Lord in Heaven. Jerry was born on August 28, 1963, in Camden, TN. Jerry was a man of honor, intellect, love, and laughter. He was a soldier, an educator, and a devout believer. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He started his career in education in Fulton, Kentucky. After that, Jerry served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. He then went on to serve as an educator and administrator for the Haywood County Schools system. In the last years of his career, he served McNairy County Schools as principal of McNairy Central High School for eight years. Jerry said both frequently and fondly that when he came to McNairy, he felt like he had come home. He served as an educator for nearly 40 years.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Garvin Pyron, his mother, Carolyn, and his brother, Ray. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Alison, his two sons, Samuel and Logan, two daughters-in-law (Sabrina and Tiffany), and three grandchildren (SJ, Spencer, and Annie). He is also survived by his brother, Gary, and his sister, Judy (Gill Kendrick). He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and in-laws, who are too numerous to mention. Jerry is also survived by the thousands of students who have known him as a teacher, principal, encourager, and mentor.
Jerry will be missed for his mind, his wit, and his warmth. He was known as a man who ultimately loved to laugh. And though he was a man who had accomplished many great things, he was treasured for his goodness to others. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to encourage those who are seeking to honor Jerry in any way to make donations to the American Cancer Society, the Gideons International, or to his beloved home, McNairy Central High School.
