Jimmy Dale Godwin

Jimmy Dale Godwin, age 54 of Lewisville passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born May 26, 1968, in Loris, SC, to Jimmy Earl Godwin and Brenda Gore Godwin. He is survived by his wife, Christine L. Godwin; two sons, Jarod and Jackson Godwin; his parents, Jimmy and Brenda Godwin; and brothers, Jamie and Jeff Godwin. Jay, as he was known at home, was raised in Beaverdam, NC, before attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In Wilmington, Jay met his wife, Christine, and they were married in 1996. After graduating, Jay attended East Carolina University and attained his master's degree, after which he began his career at BB&T, where he worked for 26 years. After welcoming two children, Jarod and Jackson, Jay and Christine made their home in Winston-Salem, NC. Jay loved spending time with his family, and he rarely missed dinner together with them at home. Jay expressed his faith in Jesus Christ by serving through various roles with his church family at Calvary Baptist Church. At home, in the church, and among the community, he enjoyed using his abilities for the benefit of others. In every conversation, Jay effortlessly added laughter through his special use of wit and humor, endearing himself to family, friends, strangers all alike. He loved to travel and spend time at the beach. He enjoyed taking the family dog, Cooper, for boat rides on a whim. When he visited home in Beaverdam, Jay enjoyed sharing stories with family, often recollecting memories from growing up or recounting tales from being away. Jay's family and friends greatly enjoyed their time with him, are proud of him, and will remember him lovingly. A funeral Service will be conducted at 2:30 PM Friday, March 10, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church by Pastors, Will Toburen and Richard Hardee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday at Calvary Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at McPherson Cemetery in Chadbourn, NC with visitation following.
