Jo-Ann Pagano of Waterford, CT passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025 at the age of 70. She was born in Bronx, NY to the late Carl and Josephine Scaglione. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Daniel Pagano, her children John (Traci), Daniel Jr.(Gretchen), Joanna (Brian) Lamboy, and her grandchildren, Shawn (Amanda), Gabriella, Michael, Christopher, Nicholas and soon to be great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Carla Ahlers. She is also survived by her four siblings, Angelo (Judy), Carl (Nancy), Christine and Roberta.
A graduate of Suffern High School, Jo-Ann began her career working in her family's bridal shop before venturing into business with her husband to open a Hallmark Card store in Chester, NY. Later, she enjoyed a career as a poker supervisor at Foxwoods Casino and Twin Rivers Casino, where her sharp wit, humor, and approachable personality made her a favorite among colleagues and players alike. After retiring, she lovingly devoted herself to caring for her husband.
Jo-Ann had a special love for the beach, which she fondly referred to as her "happy place." She also cherished time spent with friends and family, particularly attending her grandchildren's events. An avid gardener, Jo-Ann delighted in cultivating her plants and took pride in making homemade Italian tomato sauce, a beloved family tradition.
Jo-Ann's sudden passing leaves her family and friends heartbroken, but they are comforted knowing she is no longer suffering and is now reunited with her parents and sister in heaven. She was a loving friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and sibling whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 PM and Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Hawthorne Funeral Home, followed directly by Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne, NY.
