Jo Ann Shores

Jo Ann Shores, 93, of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away on October 26, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home in Lawson at 1:00 PM. Cremation under the direction of Hidden Valley Funeral Home.
Jo Ann was born on October 26, 1932. She was the youngest of four children born to Roscoe and Maurine Briant. She graduated from Lawson High School and lived in the area most of her life. Jo Ann loved landscaping, traveling and spending winters in Sun City, Arizona over the past few decades.
Jo Ann began her career in 1955 where she worked as the store manager for Skelgas at their store in downtown Lawson. She worked for Skelgas for 20 years. While on main street, she was also the office clerk for Excelsior Laundry & Dry Cleaning's Lawson location. At that same time, she worked as the bookkeeper for Public Water Supply District #1. Along with her husband, J.D. Shores, she owned and operated Lawson Super Mart for nine years beginning in November 1981. They also owned and operated JJ's Cafe in Lawson for approximately two years in the late 1980s. JJ's Cafe was particularly known for their successful Shrimp Nite on Friday evenings. Jo Ann & J.D. were principals in establishing the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson during the late 1980s. They also built and owned Oak Tree Apartments in Lawson during the 1980s and in 1990 they built Lawson's first laneway home.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her two brothers and her sister. She is survived by her two sons, Don Petree of Lawson and Lindell (Linda) Petree of Fayetteville, AR; and one grandchild, Patrick (Stephanie) Petree and their children Addison and Hudson of Springdale, AR; and a stepson, Randy Shores of Savannah, MO.
