It is with the heaviest of heart we share the sadist of news. Joan M. Claybrook 91, passed away on April 9, 2025 at 10:30AM at Flagler Health and Rehab peacefully with her nurse holding her hand. We lost her that day, but God gained an angel. She was the loving wife of Raymond E. Claybrook and together they shared 25 beautiful years.
Born in Amityville, NY, March 27, 1934. She was the beloved daughter of Corbett and Emma Osworth. Big sister to the late, Corbett Osworth Jr. Joan is survived by her dedicated and loving children, son Keith Claybrook and daughter Rayann Cole, her loving niece Diane Harris and her four amazing grandchildren, Rayna Claybrook, Maya Claybrook, Raymond Cole and Destiny Cole.
After finishing high school, Joan went on to work at the Long Island Lighting Company, Remington Windows and as a travel agent for a time. She was an avid bowler and regular member of the Elks Club in Hicksville, Long Island. Joan had the best of friends all over the country, and was a loyal fan for many years of the NY Jets, Mets, attending several games with her husband and son.
After many wonderful years traveling and building a life together in New York, Ray and Joan moved to Palm Coast, Florida. Tragically, after moving Raymond passed unexpectedly. Joan then moved to a condo in Pompano Beach, Florida and started another career of helping others achieve their goals in education as a Librarian Assistant at Kisser Collage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After 16 years, she retired back to Palm Coast. Joan spent the remainder of her years enjoying sunsets with a glass of wine on her back porch, spending time with her son, daughter and grandchildren. Surrounded by family, she enjoyed many more years of her wonderful life.
Joan battelled cancer for a short time, beat the odds and was declared cancer free after treatment. She never gave up hope. Joan lived a long and amazing life. She loved to entertain and make people laugh, she had the biggest heart and a kind word for everybody. Joan's twilight years were spent in long-term care at Flagler Health and Rehab. She loved her nurses and they loved her. Joan loved her soap operas, watching golf and her beloved, fighting Irish, Notre Dame. Joan also enjoyed her daily word searches keeping her mind sharp, and her dozens of gameshows she watched everyday.
Joan will live on in our thoughts and our memories. She always said she had the best of everything. Whenever she had it. "That's the best coconut shrimp I've ever tasted." "Oh that lemon meringue pie is the best I ever had", best potato salad, chicken parmigiana, meatballs, lasagna, shrimp and lobster sauce, the best Chardonnay; but in actuality, we had the best because we had her.
A graveside service celebrating Joan's life will be held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at Craig Memorial Park Cemetery, 2600 Old Moultrie Road St. Augustine, FL 32086 at 10:30am.
