Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cargain Funeral Homes Inc. - Carmel on Oct. 1, 2025.
Joan Louise Eddy, 86, went home peacefully to the Lord on July 21, 2025, with the dignity and grace that defined her life. Born on January 24, 1939, in New Rochelle, New York, Joan's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, laughter, and selfless devotion.
A proud graduate of New Rochelle High School, Joan dedicated over 30 years of her life as an Assistant Librarian at George Fischer Middle School, balancing her career with her most cherished role as a loving mother. Upon retirement, she and her beloved husband of 33 years, Don, settled in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where they built countless friendships through their shared love of car shows and spirited game nights. Joan was an avid player of Mahjong, cards, and bingo-always remembered for her sharp mind, competitive spirit, and the warm laughter that filled every room she entered.
To know Joan was to know the true meaning of the word "lovely." She radiated kindness, faith, and grace, bringing joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. In her final hours, surrounded by prayers and her favorite hymns, Joan found peace and comfort in the faith that sustained her throughout her life.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Don; her loving children, Jamie, Janine, and John (Michele); and her cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Jake, Courtney (Art), Michael (Elizabeth), Alex, Kathryn (Kyle), Jack (Juliet), and Matthew as well as her treasured great grandchildren Lawson, Morley and Michael, all of whom will forever hold her close in their hearts. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Sarah, and her sisters, Betty McCarthy and Helen Senno (Andy).
Her legacy lives on through her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and the countless lives she touched with her smile, laughter, and unwavering kindness. Joan's influence is both profound and enduring-a testament to a life lived with deep faith, generosity, and love.
As we say farewell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Joan's contributions to her family, her church, and her community were immeasurable, and her presence will be deeply missed. Her story is not one of sorrow but of gratitude-a reminder of the extraordinary impact a single life, lived with love and kindness, can have on the world.
