Joan A. Hersant, of Phlox, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, February 21, 2025 at her daughter's home in Wausau. She was 83 years old. She was born on April 22, 1941 in Antigo, a daughter of Harry and Irene (Zarda) Ullenbrauck. She married John Hersant on February 24, 1960 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1990.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1959.
Joan was a devoted member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Parish in Phlox.
She loved a good game of Sheepshead. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling and watching game shows. She enjoyed a good bargain at a garage sale.
Survivors include four daughters, Trina Abitz of Wausau, Paula (James) Yarie of Deerbrook, Linn (Mark) Heinzen of Green Bay, and Patsi Trotter of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren, Christopher (Crystal) Yarie, Tyler (Eileen) Abitz, Kaila (Jason) Ladwig, Logan Heinzen, Taylor Trotter, Courtney Yarie, Jake (Logan) Heinzen, Sidni Trotter, Kyle (Jessica) Heinzen; 10 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Alayna, Tylan, Kam, CeCe, Charlie, Collins, Brooks, Elijah and Sage; special niece and nephews, Vicki Kakes, Shannon Hubatch, and Gerry (Charly) Hubatch; special cousin, Emily Gardner and all their families. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her twin sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Hubatch; and brother, Robert Ullenbrauck.
A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Vicente Llagas officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery in the spring.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
