Joan D. Sweger, 91, of Carlisle, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Born in Dudley, PA, on September 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Ellsworth Daugherty and Alice Rosella (Hite) Daugherty. She was the beloved wife of the late John Richard Sweger, with whom she shared 21 years of marriage.
Joan was a high school graduate of Saxton Liberty High School and worked from 1951 until her retirement in 1988 as an Executive Secretary at the Mechanicsburg Navy Supply Depot. She was a member of St. Matthews UCC in Carlisle and was a 50+year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, 30+ years of which were as the Chaplin for the Carlisle Chapter #375. Joan lived a quiet life marked by love and kindness. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joan leaves behind her 2 sons, John Richard Sweger, Jr. and Robert E. Sweger (wife Michelle); her 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica, Jordan, Jacob, and Rachel; her 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrin, Torin, and Evelyn; her nieces, Janice, Jacklyn, and Sheri; and her nephew, Scott.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary "Aggie" Lamprey and Marilyn Allender; and a nephew, Joey Foor.
Per her wishes, there will be no services.
