Joe Chavez Jr Obituary

Joe T Chavez was born on April 17, 1981, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He left this world unexpectedly on October 12, 2025, in Pecos, New Mexico, leaving behind a legacy of love laughter, and countless memories.

Joe dedicated 22 years of his life to the New Mexico Corrections Department at PNM in Santa Fe, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant and proudly served on the CERT team. He took immense pride in his career, and viewed his colleagues not as coworkers, but as a second family. They enjoyed countless memories after work decompressing from their strenuous career. He developed strong relationships with many coworkers that left them with a lasting impression.

A graduate of Pecos High School in 2000, Joe further pursued his passion for football at NMSU, he walked on to play for the Aggie Football Team. He enjoyed his time hunting and fishing with his dad and loved his mom's cherished cooking. Family outings to Cliff's and his favorite restaurants were always highlights, as were the many staycations at the Drury Inn, where swimming and laughter filled their time. He loved engaging in spirited wrestling matches on the trampoline with his children, always ready to compete for the coveted WWE belts. Dance parties in the kitchen, filled with laughter and good music, were just a few of the ways he created beautiful, lasting memories.

Joe was known for his humor, his passionate spirit, and his unwavering loyalty to the San Francisco 49ers. Watching football with a few cold ones was something he looked forward to every week. Celebrating the moments that mattered in life defined his character. His love for dancing and singing to all types of music resonated with those around him, filling their hearts with joy. Joe was a sensitive man, who wore his heart on his sleeve, always showing a soft spot for his loved ones and the numerous family pets.

He is survived by his beloved wife Bonny; his children Angelina, Alena, Daniella, Elias, and Liliana; his mother JoAnn; sisters Jessica and Jennifer; god-daughter Jazmyn; niece Jaylynn; mother-in-law Josie; brothers-in-law Felix IV and Lorence; sisters-in-law Audra and Beverly (Chris); godmother Elodia; Padrinos; Roberto and Rosalinda Roybal, Aunts; Maggie, Irene(David) Becky, Corina, Uncles; Juanito (Esther), Norman; Chuy (Janet), Peter, Uncle John and Aunt Monica, Family Pets (Milo,Stoney, Kenai, Max) and an extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who will forever hold him dear.
