Joe Curtis, a devoted husband, passionate fisherman, and dedicated entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 10, 1948, Joe grew up in Charlotte, NC, where he was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Hermon and Mildred Walker, whom he cherished as his parents.
Joe's life was marked by a deep love for both work and leisure. He spent his career traveling across the United States, providing golf courses with scorecards, a venture he pursued with enthusiasm and dedication. His beloved wife, Robbin, was by his side throughout this journey, sharing in the adventures and experiences that came with their travels.
Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Robbin, who shared in his life's adventures and joys. Together, they spent countless hours fishing along Hatteras Island, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
An avid and successful fisherman, Joe found great joy in the waters of the Outer Banks. He eventually made Hatteras, NC, his home, where he lived for 16 years. Joe often expressed his passion succinctly, saying, "I'm either working or fishing." His love for the sea was matched only by his love for his family and friends.
Joe's educational journey included graduating from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC, attending Central Piedmont Community College, and earning a degree from Evan's Business College in Concord, NC. He further pursued his passion for horses by obtaining a Horse Master's Degree at Heartfield Academy in Heartfield, VA.
In his younger years, Joe enjoyed riding Quarter Horses, a testament to his adventurous spirit and appreciation for the outdoors. He was also a member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church, where he found community and spiritual fulfillment.
Joe Curtis is now with his Lord and Savior, absent in the body, but present with the Lord. His legacy of love, hard work, and passion for life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
