John R. Bauer, 74, of 133 Euclid Avenue, died Monday March 3, 2025, peacefully in his home.
A native of Buffalo, he was born February 17, 1951, a son of the late Robert and Alice Bonnes Bauer.
He was a graduate of SUNY Fredonia.
For several years John worked in sales for the radio industry.
Following an early retirement, as he found great joy in helping others, he became a self-proclaimed "professional volunteer". He was involved with the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department, Babe Ruth World Series and Reg Lenna Center for the Arts, among many, many other organizations. His sense of humor is well-known by many and he had a special ability to make others smile.
Surviving is his daughter Ashley (Matt) Warta of Clarence, NY and four brothers George (Judy) Bauer, Jim (Karen) Bauer, Dave (Kathy) Bauer and Mike Bauer.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara McLaughlin Bauer, whom he married February 14, 1987, and who died February 19, 2005; a brother Gary Bauer and stepmother Marion Bauer.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Monday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department, Babe Ruth World Series or Reg Lenna Center for the Arts.
