John F. Giewont, age 79, of Greene Township, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Born in Erie on August 7, 1944, he was a son of the late John and Virginia (Archacki) Giewont.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Aleutian Islands, and later in Skaggs Island, Sonoma, California. He was a member of St. Boniface Church, and a member of the board for St. Boniface Usher's Club. He retired from FMC Corporation in Wesleyville where he was the IT manager. He was a big fan of NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, Lois D. (Theuret) Giewont; four siblings, Hedwig "Jadz" Hellmann, Robert Giewont, wife Linda, Mary Roderman, husband Paul, and Edward Giewont, wife Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog, Titan, and cat, Molly.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 9367 Wattsburg Rd., on Saturday, February 10th at 11 a.m. Memorials are suggested to A.N.N.A. Shelter, 1555, E. 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511; or VMCE, 1573 W. 39th Street, Erie, PA 16509.

John took me to my first NASCAR race in Michigan and it was an awesome experience. He also invited me to several World of Outlaws races. We always had a great time. I especially loved his dry sense of humor. Great guy to work with.
