It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Herzog, who left us peacefully on July 1st, 2025. Born on January 9th, 1944, John lived a life full of love, wisdom, and kindness.
A Life Well Lived
Born and raised in Kyle, Texas, John was a man devoted to making people smile and cherished by all who knew him. He was a dedicated father to Jewel Herzog, a beloved grandfather to Brandi and Mykal Clinard and Cody and Marisa Caswell, and an extraordinary great-grandfather to Keith, Kinsley, Kei'Marion, Cryxen, Brantley, BellaCryx, and Carson. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Whisenant and Viola Boyd and Bertha Hess and George Herzog, parents, Louis and Jewel Whisenant Herzog, and siblings Melvin Herzog, Ernest Herzog, Mildred Biddy, Herman Herzog, Jewel (Grace) Limmer, and Franklin Herzog. He still lives in the hearts of his brother Bobby Herzog, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He always made time for his family, offering guidance and support whenever needed, along with any gardening tips, fishing tricks, poultry tid-bits, and traveling stories he could share.
Achievements and Passions
Throughout his life, John achieved many great things. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserve, owned multiple businesses, traveled, and attended many sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether it was hunting, fishing, sports, or puzzles, John approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and dedication.
Community and Legacy
John was also a pillar of the community. He dedicated his time to helping his family, friends, neighbors, and strangers when in need, even if it was the shirt off his back. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the smiles he created.
A Heart Full of Love
John will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, ample flirtations, unwavering love for his family and friends, and instance on making everyone enjoy life. His memory will continue to live on in our hearts and minds, inspiring us to live with the same compassion and integrity that he did.
