John M. Kramer of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2024, at the age of 61.
John grew up on the east side of Indianapolis with his five siblings and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. As a member of a close-knit family, he spent a lot of time with his siblings and cousins growing up and shared many fond memories of family picnics and holidays spent with their grandparents.
He graduated from Scecina High School in 1981 where he played basketball and baseball and remains in contact with numerous classmates to this day.
John was also a Class of 1985 Butler University Graduate and member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He looked forward to catching up with old friends and fraternity brothers at Butler's Homecoming each year and was an avid follower of the Butler basketball team. He was lovingly referred to as "Mach II" by his fraternity brothers and loved to reminisce with them at their monthly Poker nights.
John loved his three children and devoted countless hours to their sporting events and school activities. He enjoyed taking them to Indianapolis Colts, Indians and Pacers games, as well as the Indy 500 as they got older.
As a member of the OrangeTheory Fitness community since 2017, John made many lasting friendships with his coaches and fellow members who supported and inspired him to run his first marathon in 2019. Since his diabetes diagnosis in February of this year, John had become that same source of inspiration for others as he trained again for his second marathon, which he had planned to run on November 9th of this year. He joined the Fishers Running Club this year and was often seen running through the Fishers area or at races cheering on his friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Helen Kramer, his grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
John is survived by his children, Kathryn, Jack (Spencer) and Kari Mast (Oliver). He is also survived by his siblings, William (Julia), James (Joyce), Robert (Susie), Mary Helen (Brian Aldridge), Julia and many cousins.
A Catholic Mass in John's honor will be held on Friday November 8th, 2024 at 11 AM at Holy Spirit of Geist, followed by a lunch and celebration of life.
