John Mari Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 16, 2023.
John Peter Mari, 85, of Littleton, CO, passed away on January 14th, 2023. He died peacefully after bravely battling a number of health issues. John is survived by his sisters, Geraldine Porter and Shirley Hoppens, his four children, William (Bill) Mari of Wiggins, CO, Stephanie (Mari) Fuchsberger (Dennis Fuchsberger) of Huntsville, AL, John J. Mari (Stacey Mari) of Broomfield, CO, Michelle (Mari) Cole (John Cole) of Castle Pines, CO, 8 grandchildren, including Sydney Fuchsberger, Sterling Fuchsberger, J.D. Mari, Savanna Fuchsberger, Caitlyn Cole, Garrett Mari, Tyler Cole, Megan Mari, and many more family and friends.
John was born in Sterling, CO, on December 11th, 1937, and was raised on a farm near there. He attended and earned degrees at Colorado State University, University of Denver, University of Colorado, and Harvard (School of Business). John worked at Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin for 44 years and retired in 2005. Starting as a college intern at Martin Marietta, John was promoted through the years and retired as Vice President of Product Assurance for Lockheed Martin's Space Systems. He worked on a variety of projects, including Brilliant Pebbles and Viking, and served in many roles. He was known for his excellent leadership, personal integrity, and strong work ethic at his job, but also in everything that he did.
John was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus at St. Mark Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch and was active until he was too ill to participate. John was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann (Vogt) Mari, parents, John and Rose Mari, and his sisters, Lois Mari and Lorraine Mari. He enjoyed his hobbies of hunting and fishing and went often with friends and family. Those who knew him well saw his sweet and caring qualities because he always took care of those he loved. His joy in life was his family, and his strength came from his faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A rosary will occur Friday, January 20, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM, at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary (6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121) with eulogies to follow at 5:30PM. Dinner will begin at approximately 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church (9905 Foothills Canyon Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129).
