John P. Martin, Jr., 83, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Sterling Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
John is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Elaine R. (Russo) Martin; a son, Andrei J. Martin of Los Angeles; three daughters, Marti-Jo Martin, Lori Thompson, both of Richmond, VA, and Melanie Watkins of Austin, TX; a brother David Snyder of Washington State; a sister, Sandra Snyder of Washington State; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his caregivers and close friends, Ann Jastremski and Robert Koenig. John was predeceased by a daughter, April Martin. John was born in Baltimore, Maryland son of the late, John P. Martin and Angelina Snyder. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
John was a career Naval Officer and retired as Chief Warrant Officer in 1988. For over twenty years, he served proudly in the United States Navy. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Westborough; he was a Town Meeting Member in Shrewsbury and hosted “The Voice of Reason” on Shrewsbury Cable Television. He was also a member of the Shrewsbury SRT Club.
Calling Hours will be on Friday, February 14, from 2 pm until his Funeral Service begins at 3 pm in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
