John Lucian Purdom, Jr. was born on March 14, 1949 in Charleston West Virginia. He grew up in Wyoming, Ohio, graduated from Wyoming High School, and the University of Mississippi. John was a proud member of the Ole Miss Baseball and basketball teams and remained a lifelong devoted Rebels fan. One of the greatest joys was witnessing their College World Series victory in 2022.
John had a passion for sports and cherished watching his grandson Jaxson's baseball games online and being there in person to cheer on his granddaughter Spencer and grandson Cooper. His unwavering support for his family brought him endless happiness.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Lucian Purdom, Sr. and Jeanne Britt Purdom, as well as his brother William Scahill Purdom. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Deborah Gorenflo Purdom, his daughter Gibson Purdom Arling (husband, Eric), his son John Lucian Purdom III (wife, Karla), and his four grandchildren: Jaxson Purdom, Spencer Arling, Cooper Arling and John Purdom IV.
The moments spent with his family and those whom he cherished-both lifelong friends and wonderful new acquaintances-were the greatest blessings of his life, bringing him immeasurable joy.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Beth Messiah, 9054 Columbia Road, Loveland, OH 45140, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Whiz Kids at citygospelmission.org. Online condolences at www.strawserfuneralhome.com

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved ones today and always. Within the last few years John was in our little lunch group. Although we hadn't seen each other in years, the first time he came to the group, it was as if it were just yesterday with John greeting me with his giant smile and a big handshake and "Hello".

I played basketball with John at WHS. He graduated in 1967 and I did in 1968. My condolences to his loved ones. He was really good guy as I remember.
