John Joseph Shook passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with small cell lung cancer on February 22, 2024.
John was born in North Kansas City, Missouri on June 9, 1965 to Henry and Phyllis Shook. John is survived by his sister Julie (Tom) Cash of Platte County MO, a niece Katie (Josh) Higgins of Platte County MO, a nephew Jesse (DeNeysha) Cash of Pine Bluffs, WY, a great niece Mylee Cash of Roanoke, AL, a great nephew Bennett Cash of Roanoke, AL and a great niece Lily Cash of Pine Bluffs, WY. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Phyllis Shook and his brother Jeff Shook.
John attended Pleasant Valley Elementary School, Maple Park Junior High and graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1983. After high school he worked as a construction laborer.
Johnny, (his friends called him) loved hunting, fishing, canoeing, and hanging out with them. He was a Kansas City Chief and Kansas City Royals fan.
John will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
Visitation will be March 15, 2024, 5pm – 8 pm. Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 NE 72nd Street, Gladstone, MO 64118. Burial to be determined.
The family is requesting donations to the American Lung Association in lieu of flowers. www.lung.org

I've known John since Middle School at Maple Park. He was a very nice guy, had several classes with him throughout school, and ran into him from time to time over there years. He will be missed. Sorry to hear he lost the battle. Bless u all, his friends and family.
