With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Johnnie Bihm, who passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the age of 82 at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Johnnie's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell with Father Keenan Brown as the Celebrant.
Johnnie was born on June 26, 1941, to Curries and Esther Latiolais Bihm, both of whom have preceded him in death. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era and was a dedicated soldier who served in Korea from 1966 to 1968. During his service, he was part of the esteemed 7th Infantry Division, 7th Aviation Battalion, and Camp Casey Korea.
Originally from Lawtell, Johnnie called Deridder home for over forty years before settling in Basile for the past eight years. Known for his hard work and dedication, he spent twenty-six years at Boise Cascade and also shared his talent as a barber with those around him.
Johnnie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace as his memory lives on in our hearts forever. Left to share his memory his two sisters-in-law, Juanita Fontenot of Eunice and Bonnie Prevost of Breaux Bridge; His special nephew and niece, Damon and Rachel Fontenot of Basile, Ashley Fontenot of Lafayette, Stephanie and Billy Lanclos of Leonville, David and Polly Bihm of Dallas, TX, Darryl and Ginger Bihm of Fort Worth, TX , Tracy and Ann Bihm of Lafayette, Cory and Suzanne Prevost of Breaux Bridge, Cane and Rita Prevost of Portland, Oregon, Jason and Sandi Prevost of Youngsville and Chuck Provost of Breaux Bridge and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Patricia Bellard Bihm; parents, brother, Bobbie Bihm; sister, Barbara Bihm and sister-in-law, Shirley Pitre.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, March 26th from 7:00 am until the time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Tuesday.
