Funeral services for John Truett Patrick also known as "Johnny" and "JP", 73, of Lake Concordia, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 2PM with Father John Paul Perdue officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. There will be a Rosary held at 10:00AM Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ferriday, LA.
Johnny was born on Sunday, October 29, 1950, in Delhi, LA and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Ferriday, LA.
He is reunited with his parents, Kelly Ray Patrick, and Joy Pitts Patrick; son, Clint Orin Patrick; and brother, Kerry "Bubba" Boyce Patrick. JP started his law enforcement career as a Louisiana State Trooper in the early 70"s. After a few years, he took a job with the FBI which required he and his family to relocate to St. Louis, MO. Several years later, he re-joined the Louisiana State Police as an undercover agent, which he absolutely loved. Shortly after that, he found his calling to run for Concordia Parish Sheriff and enjoyed serving the people of Concordia Parish. In 1985, he began selling insurance with Farm Bureau and then Shelter Insurance until his retirement. JP spent his retirement making memories with his children and grandchildren on Lake Concordia swimming and boat riding. Many of you know JP from 4-wheeler riding days at M&D and Poole Road. He was known for leading the way and hitting the deepest mud holes he could find. He always ended the night with loud music and a good fire in the woods.
Those left behind to cherish Johnny's memories are the love of his life of 51 years, Sharon Patrick of Lake Concordia, LA; son, Sean Truett Patrick & his wife Jessie Mount Patrick of Brandon, MS; daughter Sabrina Dore and her husband Tab of Vidalia, LA; sister, Joyce Hunter & her husband Jerry of Calhoun, LA; grandchildren, Reagan, John Garrett, Logan, and Jaxon; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring Johnny as pallbearers are Josh Hoffpauir, Jarrett Hoffpauir, Gabe Rhodes, Bronson Rhodes, Robert Tassin, and Joseph Tassin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hunter, Randy Maxwell, Ronnie Hendricks, Donald Moree', Buddy Spillers, Buddy Adams, Chris Cothern, Russell Handjis, John Scruggs, and Kaleb Goldman.
The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 5PM until 8PM and Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 1PM until service time at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Parkinson's Foundation by going to parkinsons.org or by mail to Parkinson's Foundation 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131 or for a mass to be said at St. Patrick's Catholic Church by calling (318)757-3834.

Johnny was my first hire as a new DSM for Shelter Insurance. WE had a great time during the training session Shelter required at the time. He didn't need much tutoring. He was bright ,articulate and a great person. I will miss him.

Johnny taught me how to ride 4 wheelers in the mud, and have a blast doing it. I'm grateful for having an opportunity to learn from the best and I'm thankful that I knew him.
