In Loving Memory of Jonathan Charles Olson
April 20, 1978 – October 5, 2025
Jonathan Charles Olson, 47, of Potterville, passed away on October 5, 2025. Born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, Jon was larger than life - a bright spark of humor, generosity, and love whose presence could fill any room he entered.
A gifted salesman and true entrepreneur, Jon built a life around connection - through words, laughter, and genuine care for everyone he met. As owner of H2O Hydroponics, he poured his energy and charm into his work, turning customers into friends and challenges into opportunities.
Jon's passions were as wide as his heart. A talented bowler and avid golfer, a motorcycle and classic car enthusiast, and a lifelong fan of Bob Seger, he found joy in the simple things that made life feel full. But nothing brought him more peace and happiness than being on the water - boating on Lake Michigan or spending time at the family cottage in Onekama, where the sun and waves seemed to mirror his spirit: bold, free, and full of light.
He loved without hesitation. He gave without being asked. He lived with a full heart and a fearless spirit. His smile had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories.
Jon is survived by his longtime partner in life and love, Gina Elfenbein; his son, Jonathan Olson Jr.; his parents, Linda and Gerald Olson; his sister, Jennifer (Christopher) Muffett; his brother, Jeff Olson; nephews Isaiah, Ethan, and Elijah; and niece Miyah - along with countless friends, family, and his beloved dog Marley, all of whom were lucky enough to have been loved by him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home (Peters & Murray Chapel), 301 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge, Michigan with a visitation starting an hour prior. At that time, those who knew and loved him can come together to share stories, laughter, and the kind of light he brought into the world. For donations in Jon's loving memory please do so to The Children's Tumor Foundation https://www.ctf.org/ways-to-give/ a nonprofit organization; Jon lived for a very long time with a rare disorder called Schwannomatosis (a type of Neurofibromatosis.) The Children's Tumor Foundation's mission is to drive research, expand knowledge, and advanced care for the NF community.
Jon always said, "I love you," - and he meant it. His love will echo in the hearts of all who knew him, reminding us to live with the same openness, humor, and passion that defined his beautiful life.
