Bona ire, GA. - Joseph A. Guidry, Jr., 89, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 in Perry, Ga.
Joe was born on December 28, 1933 in Central, Louisiana to the late Joseph and Loretta (Brinkhaus) Guidry, Sr. After graduating from Kenner High School, he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp as a flight crew member and mechanic. In the 1960s he obtained a commercial pilots license and also became a licensed barber where he worked alongside his brother Robert. In 1967, Joe went on to work for Bunge Corp as a Master Mechanic and Electrician for 32 years. It was during this time that he built and managed Guidry's Grill in Destrehan, La. Joe enjoyed travel, festivals, and cajun music. Even after he lost his eyesight he was still sure to pass a good time.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his beloved wife of 33 years, Jerelene Lecompte Guidry, and later his companion Pamela Beach. He is survived by his daughter, Julia Guidry Mayes, son in law William H Mayes, Jr, grandchildren William Mayes Ill and Samantha Anne Mayes and many nieces and nephews.
With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial mass will be held at a later time in Metairie, Louisiana

Uncle Joe or "T-Joe" as we called him was more like a father to me. It´s hard to imagine there being a world with him no longer in it. He was my favorite Uncle out of all my Uncles on both sides of my family. His laughter always put a smile on my face. He took me so many places. He got me into many hobbies. I can still see him sitting at my grandma Guidry´s round table eating his mandarin orange every morning when I was there. I will never forget you T-Joe. I love you so much. Rest in peace.

It hard to say goodbye to the last of my uncles, and it´s even harder because he was my godfather. He was always wonderful to me. He was quite the character who loved his family, loved to travel and loved his music.
I hope he knew how much he meant to me.
Fly high, T-Joe to that reunion that never ends.
