Joseph L. "Joe" Jenner

Joseph Lindel Jenner, 88, of Pocahontas, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, IL, with his wife by his side.
He was born on December 19, 1935, in McClure, IL, and was adopted by Marion and Mary (nee Cochrane) Jenner. On June 24, 1960, Joseph married Felicia "Ina" Llorca at the Pocahontas United Methodist Church in Pocahontas, IL.
Joseph, known to everyone as Joe, has been a resident of Pocahontas on and off since the Jenners brought him and his sister, Marie, home when he was 10 years old. He attended elementary school in the one room schoolhouse on Shawnee Road then graduated from Greenville High School in 1955. After graduating, he enlisted and served 2 years in the United States Army in the artillery. When he came home, he went to work for Hunter Packing Company in E. St. Louis, IL. He met his wife, Ina, when she came to stay with the Gonzalez family at their neighboring farm. Joe quit Hunter Packing Co. in the early 70's to work full time with his dad on the pig and grain farm, moving his family there later, and dedicated his life to the farm until 2018.
He enjoyed socializing with friends and family, and traveling with his wife to Branson, The House on the Rock, and the Wisconsin Dells. Joe was a devoted family man, going to as many of his children's and grandchildren's events as he was able. He was an honest man and loved his wife, always bragging about her cooking. A loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, Joe will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary Jenner, and siblings, Bob Elkins, Rosene (Brick) Elkins Deel, Bonnie Elkins Deel Ogden, William Robert "Billy Bob" Jenner, Merle Marie Elkins Perry Garrison, and Alvin Elkins.
Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Felicia "Ina" Jenner; children, JoAnn Jenner Bockenfeld, Sandra Jenner Laurent, and Richard (Lia) Jenner; grandchildren, Jason Jenner, Evan Bockenfeld, Randi (Jeremy) Jenner Applegate, Angel Osorio, Amber Laurent, Nazary (Cody) Osorio Sennett, Kelsey Laurent, Bradley Jenner, Enrique Jenner, and Rob Catacutan; great grandchildren, Layla Applegate, Amani Osorio, Amira Osorio, and Serena Sennett; brother, Loy (Cordelia) Elkins; sisters-in-law, Loretta Jenner and Rosie Elkins; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association-Southern Illinois.
