Gamble Funeral ServiceJoseph Matthew Maringola, 79, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 15, 1945, in Bayonne, New Jersey, he was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Mary Louise Maringola.
Joseph proudly served his country with the U.S. National Guard, enlisting in February 1967 and receiving his honorable discharge on February 8, 1973. Following his service, he pursued his education at Pace University, where he graduated in 1980 with a degree in Marketing.
He went on to dedicate 45 years to a remarkable career at Becton Dickinson, where he worked as a Customer Service Manager and Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. It was there that he met the love of his life, Rosemary, with whom he built a beautiful family and shared over four decades of devotion.
Joseph’s life was filled with love, laughter, and meaningful passions. Though he sometimes complained, he adored the family’s dogs—Riley, Zoey, Bisken, Cocomo, Roman, and Lizzy. He delighted in traveling with his wife and family, attending Yankees, Devils, and Army-Navy football games, coaching youth soccer, hosting large family dinners, and enjoying long drives filled with jazz, doo-wop, classic rock, and blues. He was equally content with the quiet pleasures of coffee, a good book, and above all, time spent with his granddaughters, who affectionately called him “Pop-Pop.” His presence brought warmth, strength, and joy to all who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Maringola; his sons Joseph (Erin), Michael (Nancy), Jason, and Matthew; his beloved granddaughters Fiona, Layla, Gabriella, and Giuliana; his sister, Elizabeth Kosakowski; his brother-in-law John Kanson and his wife Nancy; and his sister-in-law Anna Cooley and her husband Brian. He is also remembered by many extended relatives and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Louise Maringola.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church, 174 Ramsey Street.
In loving memory of Joseph, the family invites donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
