Lafayette, LA on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in
Lafayette, LA. Pastor Bert Langley, of
Lafayette, LA, will officiate. Van was born on October 27, 1950, to the late Warren Adam and Ida Hale Millet. He spent 45 years working in the oilfield industry, retiring from Baker Hughes, where he was known for his unmatched knowledge and expertise in wireline. Van was truly "old school"; they don't make them like him anymore. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Youngsville, where he and his beloved wife of 46 years, the late Gayle Cole Millet, worshipped and found great comfort in their faith and bible study. Van never missed a family event and was the heart and soul of every gathering, always listening, always laughing, and always showing up in his signature white V-neck t-shirt, flannel, jeans and white tennis shoes, or in his oilfield coveralls and cowboy boots in his younger years. He had a passion for fishing and loved building beautiful furniture along with telling an old oilfield story, usually with a joke and a smile. Van was one-of-a-kind man with a beautiful heart, a giving spirit and an unforgettable laugh. His wisdom, kindness and unwavering support will be deeply missed. Van is survived by his loving children, his two sons, Steven Millet and his wife, Crystal, of Youngsville and Brent Millet, of Lafayette; his daughter, Kelley Millet, of Youngsville; his brother, Wallace Millet and his wife, Arlene, of New Iberia; his sister-in-law, Laura Whitehurst and her husband, Christopher, of Hineston, LA; his brothers-in-law, Norman Fakier and Larry Lemoine; he was the proud grandfather of his three grandchildren, Grace Millet-Geer, Macie Millet and Megan Millet; his beloved dog, Jack and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by beloved wife, Gayle Cole Millet; his parents and his brother, David Millet. Pallbearers will be Steven Millet, Wallace Millet, Christopher Whitehurst, Chad Markerson, Jeremy Markerson and Jacob Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Millet and Gregory Whitehurst. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Community Healthcare Professionals, in Lafayette; Charlotte Norman and Community Hospice Care, in Lafayette, as well as Zack David and Karen Stelly. They would like to thank the incredible staff at Woodbriar Assisted Living and Memory Care, in Maurice, including Michelle Wood, Laura Suire and Jennifer Koenig.
