Joseph J. Del Pilar, 59 years old, of Manzanillo, Mexico died February 22, 2024.
He was born in Chicago in 1964 to Raymond J. Del Pilar and Theresa A. Del Pilar nee Roccoforte. Joe attended St. Bartholomew Grade School and St. Patrick High School before enlisting in the Illinois Air National Guard. After being honorably discharged, Joe joined the Chicago Police Department in 1987 and retired as a sergeant after 28 years of service. During his 28 years Joe was recognized with numerous awards and also achieved both a Bachelors and Master's degree in Criminal Social Justice from Lewis University.
Joe is survived by his sister, Julie Del Pilar, brother, David Del Pilar (Melissa) and faithful furry companion, Canelo. He was uncle to Mary and Nicholas Lindahl, Jude and Michael. He formed a special bond with cousin, Kathy Rizzo nee Billings and friend Ana.
He loved his beautiful Boxers, Manny and Packi, who preceded him in death. Those who knew him will remember him as a generous and loyal friend who loved to travel.
Memorial Visitation Thursday, February 29th, 3PM to 8PM, Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N Cicero Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers donations to Chicago Police Memorial Foundation or Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation are appreciated. Funeral information 773-736-3833
