Joseph P. Sasso

Joseph P. Sasso, 86, of Toms River and Spring Hill, Fl, passed away on November 4, 2021 peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born and raised in Newark and lived in Iselin, Clark, and Spring Hill before returning to Toms River in 2019.
Joe was born August 2, 1935 to the late Viola and Jerry Sasso. He was a brother to the late Rita Troise and the late Jerry Sasso. He married the love of his life, Marie Valentino who predeceased him in 2016. Together, he and Marie had 3 sons - Joseph P. Sasso, Jr. of Toms River (married to Daria Messina), Gerard "Jerry" Sasso of Spring Hill, Fl and the late James Vincent Sasso (d. 1983). He loved spending time with his beautiful grandchildren Christina (Tom), Jamie (Brian), Jimmy (d. 2020), Joseph James and Sofia, and great grandchildren Kaelyn, Jack, Christopher, Anthony, and James. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He attended East Side High School in Newark.
Joe, AKA "JP" and the "Cigar" worked in heavy construction and excavating since he was a young man and owned several companies throughout his life. He enjoyed a good cigar, going out to dinner, loved to tell jokes, always smiled and found the silver lining to any situation. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to Frank Sinatra.
Joe loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed dearly.
A memorial mass will be scheduled in the near future.
