With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joshua Wayne Grizzle at the age of 48. Known for his big heart, infectious sense of humor and easy-going approach to life, Josh brought joy and laughter to everyone lucky enough to know him.
Born on January 12th, 1977, Josh graduated from Trinity High School ('95) and attended Eastern Kentucky University. In 2001, he began his career at Blue Ocean Traders, where he made his mark as a shipping manager for over 20 years, and where his love for junk and antiques began.
There was never a dull moment when Josh was around, whether he was telling a story, lending a hand, or lighting up a room with his sometimes outrageous humor. He deeply cherished his role as a father and loved spending time with his family watching Steelers games with Abby, thrifting with Selby, analyzing sports stats with Ellis; and creating art with Georgia brought him true joy.
Josh was at his happiest during junk pick-up weeks, always on the lookout for hidden treasures-most of which are still in our garage, so stay tuned for a garage sale! His love for gas station food was unmatched, and he brought joy to every holiday when he dressed as the Easter Bunny or Grinch and surprised friends with a visit! Saturday mornings in the fall were a cherished tradition, as the family huddled around the TV to watch College Game Day – Well We're Comin To Your City!
Josh loved cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats and Pittsburgh Steelers. He treasured annual fishing trips with his cousins and uncles, which usually turned into a good wrestling match. He was truly devastated when his cousin Andrew surpassed him in size, and he was the one getting pinned down. He was also always up for tackling do-it-yourself home improvement projects; finishing them was another story!
A dear friend to many, especially if you picked up on his Seinfeld references, Josh's vibrant spirit and personality will always be remembered. He is deeply missed by his wife, Nikki (Allison Gotting); children, Abby, Selby, Ellis, and Georgia; parents, Glenn and Mary Grizzle; twin brother, Zack Grizzle (Amy), who was united in the womb, but divided in political views and their favorite college sports team-Go Cats!; sister, Rachel Pasha (Nadeem); in-laws, Mike and Ellen Sherman; sister-in-law, Melissa Faulkenberg (Dave); nieces Laney, Norah, Lexi, and Lily; nephews Collin and Elijah; former wife and volleyball rival, Tracy Grizzle (Adam); and by Molly Gotting, Allison's daughter, who cherished Josh's presence in her life. He is also remembered and loved by countless extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Highlands Family Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd,
Louisville, KY 40205. His funeral service will take place on Monday, April 14th, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the children's future fund at Republic Bank under Elizabeth Grizzle.
Rest easy and be a peach, Josh. While we'll miss him every day, we're forever grateful for the love and laughter he shared with us and all the memories that will carry on forever.
