She was born October 26, 1938 in Morgan County, Il. daughter of Kenneth and Elsie Moore Mayes.
She married Allen Betz and he survives.
Also surviving stepchildren, Terry Betz (Nancy) of Riverton, Il., Randall Betz (Jacquline) of Florida, and Kari Bland of Williamsville, Il.; step-grandchildren, Steven Bland, Madeline Bland, Adam Betz, Joseph Betz, Randall Betz, Jr., Heather Warren, and Ashley Betz; step-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Evelyn, Sawyer, Cash, Elyssa, Evan, and Ryder; and was the last of her lineage but leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Kenneth Mayes, Donnie Mayes, Barb Stayton, and Betty Turner.
Joyce was a 1956 graduate of Waverly High School and was employed by the State of Illinois for many years. She attended the Waverly Christian Church and later Franklin Christian Church and Athens Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Athens Christian Church and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
