Judith A. "Judy" Werntz, age 86, of Orrville, formerly of Marshallville, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Aultman Orrville Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Born on April 2, 1939, in Orrville, Judy was the daughter of the late Floyd and Dorothy (Yoder) Martell. She attended Orrville High School and spent most of her life in the Orrville and Marshallville communities.
Judy held a variety of meaningful roles throughout her life. She worked on the production line at the J.M. Smucker Company, owned and operated The Village Snack Shop in Marshallville, and later served as the Coordinator of Religious Education at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.
A devoted member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Judy not only worked there but also sang in the choir and found great joy in organizing the children's Christmas Mass. She was a passionate Euchre player, participating in her beloved card club for more than 60 years. Known for her unwavering faith, she could be found every morning in prayer, lifting up family and friends. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially following the lives and milestones of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children, Wanda Craft, Rodney Werntz, Joyce Mosher, Brenda Werntz, Todd (Julie) Werntz, and Tammy Swinehart, all of Orrville; fourteen grandchildren, Ryan (Brandi) Maibach, Matthew (Catherine) Mosher, Kristen (Ryan) Beichler, Stephanie (Zach) Imonje, Rodney Joseph (Stephanie) Werntz, Sarah (Jerry) Riggenbach, Greg Mosher, Eric (Tabitha) Gravius, Courtney (Tyler) Wellman, Christina (Matt) Morris, Brandon Werntz, Marissa Werntz, Carissa (Darius) Parker, and Adam Werntz; and twenty-three great-grandchildren, Talon Beichler, Colin Beichler, Aiden Beichler, Sophia Werntz, Anthony "A.J." Werntz, Jackson Werntz, Madeline Werntz, Gracelin McGuire, Peyton Riggenbach, Siena Maibach, Loren Maibach, Gannon Wright, Ameliah Wright, Harrison Wyatt, Elliana Gravius, Tommy Wellman, Tucker Wellman, Coy Morris, Naylee Morris, Maxine Parker, Conley Parker, Daisy Parker, and Jade Junier. Also surviving are her two sisters, Jean Kimberlin of Adamsville and Joan (Joseph) Racanelli of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Myron "Sonny" Werntz, Jr.; an infant son, Randall Werntz; and brothers, Art, Tim, Tom, and Mike Martell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, located at Lake and Oak Streets in Orrville, with Father Ronald J. Turek officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville.
