June L Lee, a woman of strong and unrelenting faith passed away at her Grand Ledge home surrounded by family on April 7, 2025. Born on June 25, 1931 to Alfred and Katherine (Ziegler) Marquardt in Lansing, MI, she was a hardworking woman who was extremely devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family meant everything to her.
June graduated from Sexton High School in 1949 and received a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 1953 and went on to work at Mary Free Bed Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. After meeting her future husband, James R (Jim) Lee, at her family's dairy farm while Jim was picking up the farm's milk, June returned to the Lansing area.
Jim and June were married on September 25, 1954 in Lansing. They went on to have 3 children, Katherine, Lisa, and James A with all becoming involved on the Lee Family Dairy Farm in Grand Ledge. June was especially talented at raising and nurturing the baby calves. She was a gifted artist, who drew sketches of the calves for their Holstein Registrations. June played a major role in keeping the milking equipment clean and the farm received numerous milk quality awards.
June was heavily involved in the kid's school activities and enjoyed being a room mother and a member of Grand Ledge Band Boosters where she was the chairperson of the annual turkey dinner fundraiser for many years. She was a dedicated 4-H Leader at the Eaton County Fair during her children's years in 4-H. June and other local farm women came together to form the Canada Settlement Lady's Aid society, where they helped the community in times of need. June also enjoyed attending Bible Study, watching and feeding birds, planting flowers, gardening, and watching the Tigers baseball games.
June is survived by her daughter Lisa (John) Lipsey, son James A (Deb) Lee; grandchildren Sydney Lipsey (Ross Morroso), Katie (Michael) Tymkew, James S (Nicole) Lee, and Emma (John) Conklin; great-grandchildren Maxwell and Bexley Tymkew, Peyton and Breslyn Lee, and Carolee and Emmett Conklin. Also survived by brother-in-law, Jerry Lee, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband James, daughter Katherine and brother Frederick Marquardt.
