Kathleen Ann "Kathy" MacArthur, 65, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 31, 2025. She is the beloved wife of Douglas M. MacArthur with whom she shared 18 years of marriage.
Kathy was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on August 19, 1959 and was the daughter of the late William and Marian (MacDonald) Williamson. She received her education in the Chelsea School System and was a graduate of Chelsea High School in Massachusetts. She continued her education and attended and graduated from Wellesley College with her undergraduate degree and then Boston University with her Master's degree, LICSW.
Kathy had a fulfilling and impactful career as a psychotherapist at Therapy Associates of Chelmsford, where she dedicated many years to helping others. Her talent, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her work made a significant difference in the lives of those she served. Kathy was deeply respected by her colleagues and clients alike, always bringing empathy, skill, and professionalism to every session. Her dedication to her job and the well-being of others was a testament to her kind and caring nature.
Kathy lived a life filled with simple joys and passions. She loved spending time in the kitchen, where she found comfort in cooking for her loved ones. In her younger years, Kathy enjoyed the great outdoors, from camping and kayaking to hiking, always embracing the beauty of nature. A dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, she never missed a chance to cheer on her teams. She cherished trips to Plum Island, where the beach and the sea brought her peace but also would recall often the joy of sibling gatherings and unforgettable trips to Cape Cod, moments that she held close and treasured deeply throughout her life. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the sunsets from her back porch, a moment of tranquility she held dear. Kathy also had a deep appreciation for birdwatching and snowshoeing, always finding joy in the quiet moments of each season. Her love for life and the world around her will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband Douglas, she is survived by her six children, Michael Fraser and his wife Rebecca of Haverhill, MA, Scott MacArthur and his wife Erica of Chelmsford, MA, Megan Thomson and her husband John of Silver Lake, NH, Katie Porcaro and her husband Michael of Boise, Idaho, George Fraser and his wife Megan of Plaistow, NH, and David MacArthur and his wife Brittany of Litchfield, NH; her 14 grandchildren, Dylan, Alana and Dani Fraser, Adam MacArthur, Julia, Samantha and Addison Thomson, Devin Porcaro, Maggie, George III, and Charlotte Fraser, and Carlee, Bodie, and Josie MacArthur; as well as her great-granddaughter, Josephine. Kathy is also survived by her five siblings, William Williamson and his wife Carol, Irene Buswell, Donna Williamson, Robert Williamson and his wife Hollie, and Raney White and her husband Bill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Buzz Buswell and Eddie Potter.
Relatives and friends are invited to Kathy's visitation on TUESDAY, April 8th from 9:30 AM until 12 Noon at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. I was so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. Kathy was so easy to talk with and helped me get though some tough problems in life. She was so intelligent and explained things about someone dear to me and how to understand why this loved one is the way they are. I will miss Kathy but will always remember her fondly. My deepest sympathy goes out to Doug and her family.

My heartfelt condolences to Doug, the children and grandchildren and all of Kathy's siblings, family and loved ones.

I was a client of Kathy's for many years. She helped me in so many ways, always giving my the support and confidence that I needed in life. Whenever I saw her beautiful smile or heard her lovely voice, I knew things were going to be ok. She taught me to see the beauty of life and to slow down and enjoy nature. I would tell her about my animal rescues that I would encounter, and we would talk about our love of birds and the outdoors. To say she will be missed is such a profound understatement. I feel I have lost a mentor, friend, older sister. I know that she changed many peoples lives and I hope I let her know what an impact she had on mine. I was extremely blessed to have known Kathy. I may have been a small part of her life but she was a huge part of mine.
