Kathleen Marie McSweeney, nee Connolly, age 88, of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1936 in Chicago, IL.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Jack McSweeney; her parents, Bernard and Margaret Connolly, and her siblings, Bernard (the late Joanne) Connolly, James Connolly, Robert (Mary) Connolly, and Margaret Connolly.
She is survived by her loving children, Jack (Nancy) McSweeney, Jim (Erlenie) McSweeney, Mary Pat (Vince) Piscopo, Bill (Ginny) McSweeney and Kelly (Michael Loonan) McSweeney; her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Laura (John), James, Nicole (Johnny), Bobby, and Grace, and her great-grandchildren, Maddox, Jane, Greyson, Clare, and Kennedy; her dear sister, Frances Ann (the late John) Leen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and countless great friends.
Kathleen enjoyed a full and vibrant life. She embodied and instilled grace, joy, perseverance and strength.
While raising five children, Kathleen earned an associate degree from Illinois Benedictine University and worked her way up from the steno pool to vice president of Human Resources at a division of Rockwell International.
After retiring, she and Jack celebrated family, grandchildren and travel. Family was always her greatest joy and source of pride.
As Jack's health began to decline, Kathleen dedicated herself to his care. At his side until Jack was ushered into God's kingdom in 2009.
Kathleen enjoyed both her St Raphael parish and neighborhood communities. A regular at daily 8:30 mass followed by fellowship with friends at McDonald's. She also enjoyed her Stableford community driveway gatherings. She was blessed with a loving family and ever expanding circle of friends. She embraced deep connections within a meaningful and active life. She will be profoundly missed.
May she rest peacefully in God's embrace.
For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Kathleen's life, memorial donations may be directed to St. Raphael Church.
Visitation will be Monday, August 4, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 5, 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton.
