Kathy A. Del Re, 73, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023 with her family by her side.
Kathy was born in Melrose Park, IL to Robert Earl and Dorothy May (nee Aspengren) Rouse on June 23, 1950. Kathy started her career in hair design at the young age of 16.
Kathy was a resident of Elgin for 30 years. She had many passions in life, none more important than her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a Mom to all and was affectionately known as Mama D to many. She enjoyed cooking, as well as hosting weekly Sunday dinners at her home in Elgin, for family and friends.
Kathy leaves behind her husband of 54 years, John, daughters Nicole and Gabrielle (Jiovanni) Klug; granddaughter Giavella; sister Deborah (Mark) McManus; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched, especially her dogs, Dolce and Gabbana.
A Memorial Mass for Kathy A. Del Re will be held Wednesday, September 20 at 12:00pm at St. Mary Church, 397 Fulton St., Elgin.

I will always remember how incredibly loving and welcoming you were to me from a young age. It was love at first sight and how our families blended. The laughs shared around your kitchen table, Italian conversations, the countless snacks you offered and that we inhaled after cheer/ football games, late HS night outs, beauty salon blowouts, school dances, and childhood stories were just few of our most precious times together. Your family has always been like my very own and loved beyond measure. The memories that I have with you will be forever cherished & held close to my heart. You will be truly missed and loved always, Mom D. We have gained an angel. Keeping the entire family in our closest prayers during this difficult time, Especially Dad DelRe, Nicki, Gitch, John, and Giavella).
