Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunn Funeral Home - Bowling Green on Oct. 1, 2025.
Kay Jakubowski, 69, of
Bowling Green, Ohio, entered her heavenly home on September 2, 2025. She was born May 6, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Robert and Betty (Guy) Bullimore. On October 11, 1980, she married the love of her life, Douglas Jakubowski, and together they shared nearly 45 years of marriage.
Kay graduated from Waite High School and Toledo Hospital Nursing School, later serving as a nurse at Toledo Hospital where she cared for countless patients with compassion and skill. Beyond her profession, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest calling was to love and serve others in Christ's name.
Her life was anchored in the promise of Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." This verse was not only on her lips but written into her story.
As her children reflected:
"Who has been there longer than you? Who took care of us when we were sick, tired, or hungry? Who stood with us through failures and mourned with us in losses? Mom, you bore burdens that no one else could carry, and you did so with Christlike love."
Kay's legacy extended far beyond her home. She was a member of Dayspring Church, Jacob's Ladder Messianic Church, and a lifelong supporter of Champions in Action. She cherished her Tuesday morning ladies' prayer group at CBC, where she prayed faithfully for her family, friends, and the world.
Her children and grandchildren remember the countless ways she demonstrated Christ's love. Whether caring for the sick, cheering on her family, or serving children at home and abroad - even wearing five layers of clothing on airplanes so she could bring more supplies for others - her life was a testimony of selfless devotion. "Mom, you will forever be part of our testimony because you were no ordinary mother. You showed us Christ's love in action, and your faith will echo through every generation of our family"
Along with her husband Doug, Kay is survived by her children Jeremy (Bethany Stevenson), Jonathan (Missy), Joy Barnes (David), Joseph (Jeanyne), Julianna Sagasturne (Dario), and Joanna Mendez (Jose); her brother Douglas Bullimore (Sally); sisters Jill Bostater (Dan), Kelly Emch (Gregg), and Beth Estep; brother-in-law Jim Jakubowski (Tracy); 21 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dennis Bullimore.
