It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kayla Wahlgren Ford of Waterman, IL formerly of Hinckley, IL., who passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Kayla was born on April 28, 1947, and was a graduate of Hinckley-Big Rock High School. For over 30 years she dedicated her life to providing childcare in her home. After her retirement, she moved to Waterman, IL where she became an active member of her neighborhood and the senior citizens group. Kayla had a gift for crafting that brought her joy. She enjoyed and treasured the time she spent with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Mildred (Crosby) Wahlgren; her husband of 17 years, Forrest R. Ford; her brothers, Don, Bill, and Jack Wahlgren; also, her sister, Linda Anderson. Kayla's memory will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Teresa (Dale) Dickson of Winslow, ME and Teena (Brian) Mandele of Sugar Grove, IL, and her stepson, Timothy (Joanie) Ford of Slippery Rock, PA. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Samantha, Ava, Micah, and Brandon; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins who will cherish the memories they have of her. A Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, IL, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Kayla's life, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made to one of Kayla's favorite charities; Tails Humane Society of DeKalb, IL or DAV Disable American Veterans. Kayla will be deeply missed but her memories will remain in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
