Kenneth W. McElrath, 83, of Asheville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Mr. McElrath was born October 23, 1941 in Buncombe County to the late William Oliver and Thelma Buchanan McElrath. He was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and on the Cemetery Committee. Ken was employed as Plant Manager with Beacon Mfg. Co. for over 30 years and retired from Owen Mfg. Co. after several years of service. He graduated in 1960 from Owen High School and was an avid golfer and a fan of the Atlanta Braves and UNC Tarheels. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Rogers. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Betty Rice McElrath; daughter, Laurie Houser and husband, Scott; son, Brian Kenneth McElrath and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Kaylee, Abby, and Lawson and numerous friends and church family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Bethel United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life Service immediately to follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.
