Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Buford Chapel on Jan. 14, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth Bryce Ohern, who left this world to his heavenly home on Friday, January 10, 2025, at his home with his wife by his side. Born on February 11, 1944, in San Benito, TX, Kenneth was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of many.
Kenneth, fondly known as Ken, was born to the late Arthur Kittleson and the late Letha Schwartz, adopted by Bryce Ohern and was loved the most by step-father Irving Schwartz.
He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Accounting from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ken began working for Nordson Corporation in 1973 where he would spend the next 27 years. His assignments brought his family opportunities to see many parts of the country before settling in Atlanta, Georgia in 1980.
Although dedicated to his career, his primary focus was his service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ken's service included serving in Bishoprics and as a Bishop as well as a member of Stake Presidencies. He was a fantastic Sunday school teacher and taught each Sunday for many years. Ken and his wife Sherry served an 18 month mission in the Texas Houston Mission in 2012-2014. In his later years, Ken served in the Atlanta Georgia LDS Temple.
When not serving his family or church, Kenneth found joy in the simple pleasures-whether it was casting a line on a fishing trip or sharing a game-day experience, proudly supporting his beloved Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs. His passion for football was only matched by his love for the BYU Cougars. He also enjoyed collecting guns and spending time at shooting ranges.
Married to Sherry Ohern, the love of his life, for 61 beautiful years, Kenneth cherished the time spent with his wife and family. He reveled in the joy brought by his children, daughters Heather Hemsley, Heidi Kreitlein (Scott Kreitlein), Rachael Tatarinchik, and son Kelly Ohern. He was a doting grandfather to Aiden Tatarinchik, Jonah Tatarinchik, Ethan Hemsley, Parker Hemsley (Steph), Emily Macdonald (Cameron), Meagan Bradham (Garrett), Sarah Chazen (Drew), Lindsey Munton (Shane), Mitchell Kreitlein (Emma); and a proud great-grandfather to Layla Bradham, Nolan Bradham, Cosie Bradham, Scottie Munton, Daisy Chazen, Lincoln Munton, and Woods Chazen; He is survived by a brother, Jim Ohern; and sisters, Nancy Ohern Frazier, Pam Kittleson Mormann, Teresa Kittleson Gardner (Terry); as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Kenneth's remarkable life. The family invites all to join them on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Buford Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Suwanee, GA on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Visitation will take place starting at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Ken will be laid to rest at Sawnee View Gardens.
As we reflect on the life of Kenneth Bryce Ohern, we are reminded of his warm and generous nature, steadfast love, and devotion to family. His memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
