Kevin Paul Klauer, of Falmouth and formerly of Sandwich, passed away at home surrounded by his family and beloved dogs. He was 74 years old.
Kevin was born in Boston to Paul and Eleanor (Moore) Klauer and grew up in Randolph, MA. Summers were spent at Rexhame Beach in Marshfield with his family and cousins making many memories.
He has been a proud member of Ironworkers Local 7 since 1969. He was a gifted welder, able to create unique ornamental gates and pieces, primarily specializing in heavy equipment and construction. During his career, he participated in the construction and repair of many of Boston's most prominent buildings including The Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower.
He was a hippy in his soul, always appreciating the escape found in music and having attended both the original Woodstock Festival and Summer Jam at Watkins Glen. He took time to stop and look at the trees, sky, plants, birds and tracks in the woods; appreciating the beauty in the world around us. An avid boater and fisherman, he spent many hours finding peace, joy and a bit of chaos on board the Lady Erin. He thought of himself as a true blue collar man, one of many skills and much ingenuity, with a broad range of knowledge. There was not much he could not fix or create.
Life placed many obstacles and difficulties in his path, which he always found ways to adapt to and he refused to let his physical limitations confine or define him. His favorite role was that of "Grampy" and loved spending time with his grandchildren, finding pure happiness in their presence.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia A. (Condon) Klauer, daughter Erin P. Klauer of Weymouth, son Kevin P. Klauer II and his wife Meghan G. Klauer, of Falmouth and grandchildren, Edward (Teddy) Klauer, John (Jack) Klauer, Benjamin Klauer and Margaret (Maggie) Klauer, all of Falmouth. He is also survived by his brother Peter J. Klauer and his wife Terri Smith, of Portland, Oregon, as well as his beloved nephews and extended family members who mean the world to him.
We are forever grateful this unique soul entered our lives with his immense wisdom, dry humor and made up songs. He will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod for their care and support during this past year especially Carol and Jose. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you please consider donating to Cape Cod Intergroup, 745 Falmouth Road, Hyannis MA 02601, a group that had a profound impact on Kevin's life.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 2-4 P.M. with Funeral Service at 4:00 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 475 Main Street (Route 28), Falmouth.

Kevin was a very kind soul. I was new to the Cape, having purchased my first house and was having trouble with my furnace. He heard about that and had a pickup truck full of firewood for me! I was so touched by his kindness to someone he barely knew. I've never forgotten it. Rest in Peace Kevin.
