Kevin McCarthy died on Monday, December 16th, surrounded by his wife, Gloria McCarthy, and two daughters, Ashley and Kelsey. He was born on March 23, 1952 in the Bronx to Justin and Marie McCarthy. Kevin was a proud alumnus of Cardinal Spellman High School, where he met the love of his life, Gloria. Gloria and Kevin began dating when they were 15 years old and they worked hard to build a beautiful life together. They were married for 49 years and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2025. A resident of Blauvelt, New York for nearly 40 years, Kevin loved his community and will be remembered as a beloved and dedicated coach at both the South Orangetown Little League and St. Catharine's CYO Basketball programs. Kevin was known for his kindness, his big heart, his love of music and his extensive baseball hat collection. He was loved by all who knew him and always quietly offered a helping hand to those in need. Kevin's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was completely and utterly devoted to making Gloria, Ashley and Kelsey happy, and they were his pride and joy in this world. Kevin absolutely adored his two grandsons, James Justin McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy Brennan. Kevin was at his happiest when he was playing with James and Kevin on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Kevin is survived by his beloved wife Gloria; daughters Ashley (Kim) and Kelsey (John); brothers John (Diane) and George (Linda); sister Patricia; cousin Fr. John Moyna and a host of adoring nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Cardinal Spellman High School (1 Cardinal Spellman Place, Bronx, NY 10466) would be appreciated.
