Michael A. Keane, age 69, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. passed on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Michael has been cared for most recently at the Tarrytown Hall Care Center in Tarrytown, NY after suffering a long-term debilitating illness in 2013.
Michael was born to Andrew and Cathleen Keane in the Bronx attending St. Benedict's School, Cardinal Spellman High School and continued his education at Manhattan College where he graduated with a degree in History as part of the class of 1977. During his years at Manhattan College Michael participated in the Air Force ROTC. He was a very proud ''Jasper''.
Michael began his working career at A&P Supermarket during his high school years where he developed his work ethic and demonstrated his knack for numbers as a cashier. After the family re-located to Dongan Hills on Staten Island, Michael landed a job at New York Life Insurance in 1979. Michael spent his entire 34-year career at New York Life at the main office in Manhattan. He had various positions with NYL maintaining customer policies and ended his career working in the IT department in 2013.
Michael was loving, caring and devoted to his family and friends. He loved adventure, long road trips and military history. Michael had an extensive collection of model planes and enjoyed staging historic battles with his hand painted tin soldiers. He was a collector of comic books, classic movies and other memorabilia of movies and TV from the 1930s through the 1980s. He was an avid New York Mets fan and loved the long-suffering New York Jets. Michael also loved video games like Nintendo NFL football where he earned the nickname ''Air Keane''. He loved to play Pinochle with his family around the kitchen table. Michael began giving back to the community as a member of the Masonic order of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, highlighted by his installation as Grand Tall Cedar in 2001.
During his final years in rehab, he constantly asked about his family, and prayed for us every day. He always inquired how everyone was doing, especially his wife Virginia.
Michael was married to Virginia Alcamo from 1993 to 2020. He is survived by his brothers Brian, Kevin, James, Daniel, Christopher and his sister Cathleen. He was predeceased by our beloved brother Neil in 2013. Michael also enjoyed his numerous nieces and nephews and our large extended family.
