Kimberly A. (Upton) Moore, 58, of Mooresville, passed peacefully from this life while in the comfort of her home and surrounded by the people who loved her the most on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was born in Danville, IN on August 12, 1965, to David L. Upton and Donna R. (McClellan) Clark.
The oldest of two daughters, Kim and her family settled in the quiet neighborhood of Latta Addition in Monrovia in 1975, where she and the neighborhood kids were thick as thieves. Knowing how to push the limits from a young age, she found delight in terrorizing her little sister, Jennifer, as big sisters are known to do, but always in fun. A proud graduate from Monrovia High School with the class of 1983, she was involved in sports, playing softball and was a member of the color guard, but her real purpose was to fill the role of the social butterfly she was born to be. She later attended Aristotle College, earning a degree as a Medical Assistant. A talented workaholic, Kim secured employment at the Indiana Blood Center where she devoted 28 years of dedicated service, before taking a job she could work from home with IU Health.
On October 21, 1988, Kim married the love of her life, Brian and the pair settled in Brooklyn. With the birth of their beloved daughter, Taylor, in 2002 the family purchased their forever home in Mooresville where they have remained. Always on the move, and with a passion for traveling and a yearning for the sun, the family frequently took vacations, visiting several beaches in Florida and Georgia, but her most favorite destination was Gatlinburg, TN. Motherly by nature, everything Kim did in life was with her family's best interest at heart. When Taylor was struggling with college, she gave her the encouragement to push through, aiding her in achieving success.
Outspoken and one not to mince words, Kim didn't hesitate to tell you how it was. Headstrong and authoritative, she knew what she wanted in life and made sure she achieved her goals. In 2018, and after numerous treatments for her failing health with no diagnosis, Kim was finally sent to the Mayo Clinic where she received the devastating news that she had ALS. A true fighter, she bravely battled the disease for as long as her body let her. Leaving this world all too soon, she leaves a hole in the hearts of her family that will never be filled. Kim will be forever missed.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, David Upton, stepfather, Charles Clark, and mother-in-law, Georgia Moore.
She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Brian Moore of Mooresville; daughter, Taylor Moore of Mooresville; mother, Donna McClellan of Bellville; sister, Jennifer Swanson (Mike) of Danville; father-in-law, Bill Moore of Mooresville; sister-in-law, Rolonda Moore of Mooresville brother-in-law, David Moore (Shiela) of Mooresville; and her kitties, Jolene and Lou.
Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Kim's family plans to have a gathering to celebrate her life in the spring, and details will be updated when finalized.
